Enhancing the organisation and functionality of your kitchen will allow the space to feel open, appear tidy and look great while serving your needs. After all, we don’t just prepare food in our kitchens, we host our friends, have family discussions and simply hang out in them.

Maximise storage

Make the most of corner cabinets and other unused areas with custom storage. For example, an angled pullout spice rack can fill an awkward space next to the stove. Try to use every nook and cranny as there’s no such thing as too much storage.

Customise built-ins

In line with storage solutions, speak to your builder about creating highly functional built-ins, such as organisers in drawers for steak knives and spices.

Integrate large appliances

Many appliances today come with an integrated-panel option, a costly but wise investment. Hiding your appliances with panels will create a continuous, clean look throughout your space without breaking up the visual flow.

Hide small appliances

It makes a difference when you don’t see rows of appliances on the counters, and it also frees up space for prep work when cooking or baking. Consider appliance garages, which are storage cabinets with rollup fronts that retract the same way a garage door does.

Organise the bins

Having a separate pullout drawer for your garbage, recycling and compost is the best way to address your trash. If your compost starts to smell, for example, you can take just that bin outside without having to carry a large garbage container that might not be full yet.
