If you want to switch from your usual whites and greys, this year might be the time to do it. Whether you’re renovating your living room or creating a new extension in your home, get some fresh new ideas from the top paint trends for this year.

Gelato colours

One of this year’s most popular palettes is a mix of pastel shades, ranging from light and bright to more muted. It’s just like what you would see walking into an Italian gelato shop. Imagine bright mango yellow, deep coffee brown, muted pistachio green and peach tones.

Greens

Homeowners will not be able to get enough of green, from bright, stronger greens, to the softer shades. Sage green, in particular, has shown broad appeal.

Block colours

Bright, clashing block colours in mostly geometric patterns were popular in the 80s and 90s and are expected to make a huge comeback. However, the return will feature more muted, dusty tones. This is a great option if you want to play with colours without going overboard. The trick is to choose colours opposite on the colour wheel. For example, lilac and yellow or pink and green would work well.

Cool tones

Cool colour, such as blues, greens and purples, can help balance out an already colourful home. An entire house full of warm colours can get too sweet. Cool tones are neutralising and calming, but not necessarily boring.
