Just because you’re in need of extra space does not mean you immediately need to pack up and find a bigger home. Depending on your needs, it just might take a conversion or extension to create the extra room you need.

Garage Conversion

If your garage is not getting enough use, it has the potential to be an extra bedroom. Just remember that a garage is a Class 10a building and is considered a non-habitable structure as set out in the Building Code of Australia. Converting a garage to a habitable room will require a Development Application and Approval from your local Council before commencement of any work.

Home Office

With many people transitioning to working-from-home, it’s a good idea to set up a workspace that keeps your personal life from spilling over into your professional life. An unused extra bedroom or quiet nook in your home could become your perfect home office.

Deck

Adding a deck to your extension gives you an additional living area that you’ll use a lot more than you might think! In our great climate, you can enjoy meals and entertain guests on your deck all year round.

Second Storey

Adding another storey to your home is an option to consider, especially if you don’t want to sacrifice what yard space you have. However, be mindful that adding a second storey can impact your neighbours. Speak to your builder about how local council regulations and how a second storey build affects views into neighbour’s yards.
