For many people, the kitchen is the heart of the home and when it’s stuffy and cluttered, it can bring the rest of your home down. If you’re planning a kitchen renovation and your space and budget is limited, take note of these tricks to make your kitchen more sizeable than it is.

Less hardware

The less clutter you have in your kitchen, the roomier it will feel. Take the same theory to kitchen design. Touch-activated cupboard and drawers will give your kitchen clean lines. This one subtle change can already make your kitchen feel bigger.

Panel appliances

To increase the fluidity in your kitchen, consider installing panel appliances. These appliances, usually dishwashers and refrigerators, are designed to blend into your kitchen cupboards. Not only does it make your kitchen appear breezier but sophisticated as well.

Mirrored backsplash

Installing a mirror in a room is one of the easiest tricks to make any space feel bigger. To subtly incorporate this trick in your kitchen, you can try out a mirrored backsplash. For a subtle reflection, use tinted glass.

Open shelves

Open shelves are on-trend right now and it perfectly frees up any confined corners of your kitchen. You can even remove all upper cupboards and totally replace them with shelves. Also useful closed cupboard alternatives are hooks and a magnetic knife holder.

Cupboard lighting

Light makes any space bigger, but sufficient lighting is especially important in the kitchen. Installing lighting under, above and even inside cupboards can add brightness and a sense of spaciousness.
